The Pittsburgh Steelers kicked off their first practice of the week on Wednesday, preparing for their first primetime game of the season against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5. Ahead of that matchup, there are plenty of injuries on both teams to be monitored.

Here’s a look at the full Steelers practice report for Wednesday, October 2 ahead of Pittsburgh’s second home game of the season.

Steelers injury report: Week 5 (Wednesday)

DNP: RB Jaylen Warren (knee), LB Nick Herbig (ankle), LB Alex Highsmith (groin), MyCole Pruitt (knee), RB/KR Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle)

Limited: QB Russell Wilson (calf), DT Keeanu Benton (ankle)

Full: LB Jeremiah Moon (ankle), LG Isaac Seumalo (pectoral)

The biggest injury news of the day was arguably the return of starting left guard Isaac Seumalo to full participation in practice after suffering a pectoral injury in late August. Wednesday marked his first full practice following the injury, and

There’s also some bad news worth discussing, including injuries to two key playmakers at running back, as both Jaylen Warren and Cordarrelle Patterson missed practice on Wednesday with their respective injuries. Warren missed Week 4, and a lack of progress by Thursday would most likely mean he’s set to sit out at least another week with the injury. Patterson’s status for Week 5, meanwhile, is less clear after suffering an ankle injury in Week 4. Regardless, the Steelers made a preemptive move and officially signed RB Aaron Shampklin to the active roster.

Other bad news to open up the practice week is the absence of second-year OLB Nick Herbig, who suffered an ankle injury in Week 4. He joins the already-injured Alex Highsmith, who just missed last week’s game against the Colts dealing with a groin injury. Luckily, the Steelers have the opportunity to get back OLB Jeremiah Moon from the injured reserve list this week, officially activating his 21-day practice window to return from IR. If fully healthy, he could be in for a decent workload should Herbig miss time.

Second-year DT Keeanu Benton was also limited Wednesday with an ankle injury.

Tough week for ankles, eh?
