Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Cameron Sutton, who opened the 2024 season with an eight-game suspension, has been reinstated, the NFL announced Tuesday.

As many have reported, including Penn Live’s Nick Farabaugh, Sutton was granted a roster exemption through Nov. 4, meaning he won’t count towards the Steelers’ 53-man roster until that date.

As a result, the Steelers have about a week until they have to make room for Sutton, although they already have two roster spots open as of Tuesday.

Sutton’s season-opening suspension was the result of domestic violence charges against him following March 7. Prosecutors originally filed a felony case that later became a misdemeanor charge. Sutton was drafted by the Steelers in 2017, playing six seasons in Pittsburgh before signing with the Detroit Lions for the 2023 season. He rejoined the Steelers this season after he was cut by the Lions following his charges.

Sutton is expected to immediately contribute in a slot cornerback and safety role in the Steelers defense.
