The Pittsburgh Steelers have won four in a row after pulling off a thrilling 28-27 win over the Washington Commanders. As always, we’ll dive into the game’s best performances, as well as those performances that weren’t so great. Here are the winners and losers from Week 10.
Varsity
LB Patrick Queen
This was Queen’s best game as a Steeler and he was everywhere. He led the team with seven tackles, including two for loss as well as a pass deflection on a third down that forced a punt. The last month of football for Queen has been night-and-day compared to the first month of the season. He has settled into his role as the guy with the green dot, and he has clearly gotten more comfortable in the defense.
QB Russell Wilson
Wilson was chucking it all day. And although the completion percentage may not look beautiful (14-of-28) he had a QBR of 72.7 and connected on three touchdown passes, the first Steelers quarterback to do so in the post-Ben Roethlisberger era. The biggest score of which was the moon ball to the newly acquired Mike Williams to give the Steelers the lead and complete the comeback. Wilson is now 3-0 as the Steelers’ starter and the offense is averaging over 30 points per game in that stretch.
S DeShon Elliott
It feels like a weekly occurrence that we’re talking about how awesome Elliott is. He had six tackles, one for loss, and continues to be the do-everything tool for the Steelers’ defense.
WR George Pickens
Only George Pickens could make one of the most physically impressive catches of the season for a touchdown while also hit a defender with a suplex behind the play after an interception. Pickens had five catches for 91 yards and a touchdown and continues to show he is more than capable of being a high-caliber No. 1 receiver.
WR Mike Williams
Welcome to Pittsburgh, Mike Williams. He only played in a handful of snaps and had one catch, but what a catch it was. His 32 yard touchdown reception put the Steelers on top for good in a very exciting team debut.
EDGE Preston Smith
Speaking of team debuts, it was a good one for Preston Smith. He had two tackles for loss and a sack as he immediately made his presence known.
DT Cam Heyward
Even at age 35, Heyward is playing some of the best football of his career. He had two sacks, two tackles for loss, and a pass deflection on the day.
WR Ben Skowronek
In his first game since Week 2, Skowronek recovered a muffed punt that set the Steelers up deep in Commanders territory and led to a touchdown.
RB Jaylen Warren
Warren had his best game of the season, racking up 66 yards on the ground and 29 yards receiving. His explosiveness has looked like the Jaylen Warren we saw last season over the last handful of weeks.
Junior-Varsity
CB James Pierre
You can’t drop that pass on the fake punt. It was a perfect throw, there was no one around him, and it fell through his hands and set up a Commanders touchdown. He somewhat redeemed himself when his helmet got in the way of an underthrown ball to Noah Brown on the Commanders’ final drive and fell incomplete, but it’ll be a long while before he lives that down.
CB Joey Porter Jr
That was Porter’s worse game as a pro. He had three first half penalties that helped keep the Commanders’ offense on the field, and Terry McLaurin had a massive day with five catches for 113 yards.
