The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to avoid consecutive division losses as they’ll travel to Ohio for the second straight week, this time to face the Cincinnati Bengals. Here’s what they’ll need to do to get to 9-3.
Splash plays
Joe Burrow is second in the NFL in pass attempts, and by the time the week is over, he’ll be first, in large part because he has to. The Bengals can’t run the ball, so they’ve all but leaned into passing more than any team in the league. Ja’Marr Chase is in the midst of a terrific season, leading the NFL with 1,056 yards. The Bengals’ duo is going to be what they lean on, and the Steelers need to take advantage of the ball being in the air so much. Whether it be interceptions, strip sacks, forced fumbles after a catch – whatever it may be, the Steelers’ defense needs to show up, and do so in crucial moments, which they struggled to do against the Browns. Burrow has only thrown four interceptions on the year, so interceptions have been few and far between for the star quarterback. However, the last time he faced the Steelers in Cincinnati, he threw four picks.
Prepare for a shootout
The Steelers have shown they can win a shootout when they defeated the Commanders 28-27 in Week 10. While the defense is a very good one, slowing down Burrow and Chase has been a task proven to be near impossible. The Bengals are going to get theirs, but it’s the job of the Steelers’ offense to keep pace.
T.J. Watt reminder game
Hey, you had a bad game against the Browns and Myles Garrett ran his mouth after the game saying he’s better than you – show everyone that 90 has always been better than 95 and turn this into the T.J. Watt game. Take advantage of the Bengals’ lackluster offensive line, get to Burrow, put him on the ground, and put your stamp on the Defensive Player of the Year Award.
