The Pittsburgh Steelers dominated the Cleveland Browns 27-14 to become the third AFC team with 10 wins, and keep their path to the No. 1 seed alive. As we do every week, let’s dive into the best and worst performers from Week 14.

Varsity

QB Russell Wilson

Wilson was working without George Pickens, and the offense still put up 27 points. His numbers weren’t gawdy by any means (15-of-26, 158 yards, 2 touchdowns) but he made several throws in this game that were big time. Multiple darts to Pat Freiermuth, one of which went for a touchdown. Deep ball connections to Mike Williams and Scotty Miller. Wilson got the job done once again and continues to look like the quarterback he was before he was covered in the stench of the Broncos.

EDGE Alex Highsmith

Welcome back, Alex Highsmith. He generated six pressures on Jameis Winston and had a sack in his return, as well as two tackles for loss. With their EDGE group now completely healthy, the Steelers have a lot more freedom to do different looks and groupings with them.

DT Keeanu Benton

Benton’s interception was the turning point of the game. The Steelers finally put a touchdown on the board after three consecutive three-and-outs thanks to Benton’s big splash play.

TE Pat Freiermuth

Freiermuth continues to have a great stretch. He had three catches for 48 yards and a touchdown, and over his last five games, he has 18 catches and three touchdowns. This is the best year he’s had since he was a rookie, and he is showing that he was well-worth that extension.

DT Cam Heyward

Heyward is stacking great game after great game. He had two sacks on Sunday, and I’ll just get ahead of it right now – he will be my First-Team All-Pro on my PFWA ballot. An insane season for the 35 year-old.

EDGE T.J. Watt

Watt set the tone on the defense’s first play, coming off the edge and hammering Nick Chubb for a loss. He still looks like the favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year, and the Steelers will need him to be at his best in this final four-game stretch.

LB Elandon Roberts

Roberts had multiple plays in this game that were notable. He blew up center Ethan Pocic who was pulling on an outside run, and he made the stop on fourth and short to force the Browns’ turnover on downs.

WR Collective.

It makes sense just to bunch the group together as a whole. Mike Williams had a much larger role than he had in prior weeks since being acquired due to Pickens being out, and he had a beautiful one-handed grab that picked up 22 yards. Scotty Miller had three catches, as well – one of which was a 21 yard catch down the sideline. Van Jefferson caught a touchdown. Ben Skowronek made another special teams play with his second fumble recovery of the year. A really nice day for a unit that no one had any faith in entering this season.

Offensive line

Broderick Jones has been playing at a much higher level than we saw in the first half of the year. Dan Moore kept Wilson clean until the very tail end of the game when it was already well in hand. Pittsburgh ran for 120 yards on the day, and the o-line has been very solid – really, it’s been solid for the majority of the season, which has been a lovely sight.

CB James Pierre

Pierre had the interception that sealed the win. It was nice to see him make a play after the drop on the fake punt against Washington a few weeks ago.

Junior-varsity

RB Cordarrelle Patterson

No more offensive touches for Patterson. Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren should be the only running backs touching the ball. Patterson had three yards on four carries and a fumble – enough.

Situational play-calling

On the first drive, the Steelers get 1st-and-5 after a neutral zone infraction. And yet from 1st-and-5, they can’t pick up a first down. Later on, they have 2nd-and-1, and they run a toss that loses a yard followed by a jump ball downfield to Scotty Miller. This shouldn’t be that hard. Arthur Smith cleaned things up for the final two and a half quarters, but the first half or so was very ugly.
