The biggest news off the final injury report is the fact that WR George Pickens has officially been ruled out with a hamstring injury for Week 15. Though there’s been no indication yet of how long he’ll be out, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette did share in his Thursday chat that he is “expected to miss more than the Eagles game.”
With a full week to game plan with the knowledge of Calvin Austin III’s availability, plus get Mike Williams some more reps, we should see both heavily involved in the game plan this week after a lack of significant snaps in Pickens’ absence last week. Regarding the involvement of trade deadline acuisition Mike Williams, HC Mike Tomlin shared the following comments on Tuesday: “I view it as only a matter of time before his presence gets felt in a more consistent way in-stadium. Practice has been like that for a number of weeks, and usually when you see people making plays in practice, it’s a precursor to them making plays in stadium.”
Meanwhile, the Steelers have also listed two starting defenders out for Week 15, including safety DeShon Elliott and DT Larry Ogunjobi (the Steelers’ nominee for Walter Payton Man of the Year).
In the absence of Ogunjobi, expect Dean Lowry to be active for this game after being scratched last week, as well as an uptick of snaps for Isaiahh Loudermilk. Expect Damontae Kazee and Cam Sutton to see chunk of snaps in Elliott’s absence, with the potential promotion of Eric Rowe from the practice squad ahead of gameday.
DT Montravius Adams, still on injured reserve in his return from a knee injury but in his 21-day practice window, logged full practices all week and is listed as questionable for this game. The Steelers will need to activate Adams by December 18, or else he’ll be out for the season.
Also listed as questionable is OL Calvin Anderson, who popped up with a groin injury on Friday’s injury report and was officially tagged as a limited participant in practice. Anderson has played just 11 offensive snaps since signing with the Steelers in late September.
