The Pittsburgh Steelers are heading out east to face the Philadelphia Eagles in the great Battle of Pennsylvania this week!

Despite a 10-3 record and a two-game lead in the AFC North, this game is a bit nerve-wracking for fans, especially without several starters this week between WR George Pickens, S DeShon Elliott and DT Larry Ogunjobi. The loss of Elliott and Ogunjobi on defense is just as devastating as the loss of Pickens on offense; does that mean the Steelers won’t have a chance, though?

Steelers vs. Eagles predictions

The loss of DeShon Elliott worries me as much as the loss of George Pickens. Playing on the road in Philadelphia doesn’t help, either. Ultimately, I think the Steelers will play this one closer than many expect, but I’m not confident it’ll end in a win. 27-24, Eagles. — Ryland Bickley

The Steelers offense has been danger-russ recently, but it’s time for the defense to assert its dominance. Barkley will get his yards, but Pittsburgh’s bend-don’t break philosophy will be on display. Cam Sutton will have a performance that will remind fans why he was a starter in Detroit not too long ago. Chris Boswell will keep the score tight and give Russell Wilson an opportunity for a fourth-quarter comeback. Steelers 19-Eagles 16. — Kyle Chrise

We’re looking at two teams going through different challenges. The Steelers are banged up, as WR George Pickens, by far their best weapon, will miss his second straight game. Safety DeShon Elliott has also been ruled out. Elliott has been one of the biggest surprises in the NFL and should warrant All-Pro consideration.

The Eagles on the other hand are in a funk when it comes to their passing game. Quarterback Jalen Hurts has not thrown for over 200 yards in three straight games, and his favorite target A.J. Brown hasn’t been in the best of spirits, saying this week that the passing game needs to improve.I don’t anticipate it to improve against a stout Steelers defense – even with Elliott out.I think the black and gold are playing with a bit of house money as the division will be at stake next weekend against the Ravens, while the Eagles will have the pressure of a whole city at their back.

Steelers and Russell Wilson surprise – and continue their winning ways. 23-20 — Mike Nicastro

For arguably the first time this season you get the feeling that Pittsburgh might be a step behind this game. The key injuries to George Pickens, DeShon Elliott and Larry Ogunjobi seem like a large mountain to climb, in a city that’s mountain has been steep for 59 years now.If the Steelers are to beat a fascinating Philadelphia Eagles offense, it will take monster days from duo of Alex Highsmith and T.J. Watt (who remain undefeated together this season) and the entire Steelers defense.While the Steelers could lose this game and not suffer any detrimental consequences, you have to imagine they’re going into Philadelphia to prove something in a multitude of facets.

With all that said, I still believe the Eagles get the better of them this time around (I could see that changing in a potential Super Bowl rematch. This game though, by way of a 26-21 Eagles victory. — Alex Hanczar

The Steelers are 5.5-point road underdogs, down their top reciever, DeShon Elliott’s steady consistent tackling, and about to start a brutal 10-day stretch.So why do I feel so confident they get this done? Philadelphia is talented but seems like a volatile cast of characters. At this point there are only two teams I think the Steelers wouldn’t be able to drag into a one-score game, and Philadelphia ain’t one of them. The prospects for this game feel quite grim at first glance. 6.5-point underdogs, on the road against a team Steelers haven’t won a road game against since 1965. They’re without their top wide receiver. They’re without one of their top defenders in the secondary with George Pickens and top run defender in De’Shon Elliott and another anchor on the defensive line (and locker room) with Larry Ogunjobi. Yet still, it doesn’t feel like a moment that’s too big for this team that has shown grit and resiliance despite the many, many doubts around the league. Philadelphia, on a nine-game win streak, with one of the league’s best rushing attacks — further emphasizing just how much the loss of Elliott could mean in this game. This has all the makings of a classic low-scoring, physical battle in which the last team standing emerges victorious. Pittsburgh’s ability to contain rushing QBs this season (of couse, not without contributions from Elliott) and the number of playmakers able to generate turnovers should make it a close one, at the very least.
