The Steelers lost to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, 27-13, in a game that certainly didn’t help the team, but didn’t hurt it much, either.
Pittsburgh remains the AFC’s No. 3 seed and the top team in the AFC North despite the loss. More importantly, the Steelers officially clinched a playoff spot following losses by the Dolphins and Colts, ensuring the black and gold will contend for the Super Bowl in January for the second straight season.
The Steelers remain the only remaining top-four seed in the AFC to not have clinched their division. However, that can change in the Steelers’ Week 16 game against the Baltimore Ravens, where a win would clinch the AFC North.
Following wins by the Chiefs and Bills, Pittsburgh’s path to the AFC’s No. 1 seed remains possible but highly unlikely. Right now, the most important game remaining on the regular season schedule is Saturday against the Ravens.
The current AFC standings are listed below. Teams that would be in the playoffs if the season ended today are marked with an asterisk. Pittsburgh has already recorded wins over the current Nos. 5, 6 and 7 seeds this season.
