The Pittsburgh Steelers are just one day out from a Week 17 matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, and fans got great news one day out, as the team is set to see a number of starters return in this key matchup.

The biggest news of all is the absence of WR George Pickens on the final injury report, meaning Russell Wilson, Arthur Smith and Steelers fans everywhere have received the perfect Christmas gift — the return of their star wide receiver to the lineup. Pickens has missed each of the past three games with a grade 2 hamstring injury, and the passing game has suffered in a big way since then. Calvin Austin III, Pat Freiermuth and Jaylen Warren have been the primary receiving targets over the past three weeks, though 11 different players have caught a pass in that span with the wide-spread passing attack — albeit an inefficient one. Pickens’ return will be key in facing this Kansas City Chiefs’ defense.

Also set to return are three starters on defense, as safety DeShon Elliott, cornerback Donte Jackson and DT Larry Ogunjobi will each look to return to the starting lineup in Week 17. Elliott and Jackson’s return is key in the secondary is of the utmost importance, especially given that the team will be without CB Joey Porter Jr. this week, set to miss Week 17 with a knee injury suffered in Saturday’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens. It will be the first game Porter has missed in his professional career.

The only player listed as questionable in Week 17 is QB Justin Fields, who missed last week with an abdomen injury suffered in Week 15. After being listed as a DNP on Sunday’s estimated practice report, Fields was upgraded to a limited status for Monday’s walkthrough and Tuesday’s practice. If he is inactive, it seems possible that Fields would still serve as the third-emergency quarterback; if he is active, it doesn’t seem likely we’ll see him in any plays as a designed runner for now, given that is how he suffered the injury in the first place.

That’s the jist of it all.. but in case you’re curious, here’s a full breakdown of Steelers' final injury designations, as well as their participation report for their final practice ahead of Week 17 against the Chiefs
