While the quarterback position is the primary focus when it comes to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ team needs, addressing the defensive line will certainly be a priority this offseason – potentially resulting with the Steelers drafting a defensive tackle in the first round. The Steelers could also go the route of free agency to address the position, even potentially reuniting with a former draft pick of theirs.

According to Adam Schefter, the San Francisco 49ers will be releasing Javon Hargrave on the first day of the league year. The former third-round pick only played in three games last season in his second year with the 49ers before being lost for the year with a triceps injury. He had seven sacks in 2023, though, and still showed the ability to be a game-wrecker both against the run and pass en route to his second Pro Bowl appearance. His best season came in 2022 with the Philadelphia Eagles where he posted a career high 11 sacks and 60 tackles.

Hargave was drafted by the Steelers in 2016 out of South Carolina State and had a good four-year start to his career in Pittsburgh, most notably posting 6.5 sacks in 2018. If the money was right, bringing him back on a short deal would be a smart move.
