The Pittsburgh Steelers will all but certainly be players in the wide receiver market this offseason. Outside of George Pickens, they don’t have any true starting caliber receiver on the roster, leading to a need for a big signing and/or a blockbuster trade to bring in another star.
One high-profile name the Steelers could target is D.K. Metcalf. The Seattle Seahawks star wide receiver requested a trade and Seattle will be listening to offers, even making it known what they want in return. According to Dianna Russini, the Seahawks want s first-round and third-round pick in return for the two-time Pro Bowler.
Now, two things can be true – the Seahawks want that absurd package in return and they’ll trade Metcalf without getting said package. Based off the market for receivers over the last year, Seattle will likely get a second-round pick as the biggest piece in a trade. Perhaps they would get a third-round pick and another player with a pick being sent back to the team acquiring Metcalf in a pick swap.
Metcalf is worth a second-round pick. If Pittsburgh is really looking his way, they can’t send low-ball offers and miss out like they did with Brandon Aiyuk last year. They may also go the route of shipping a third-round pick and Roman Wilson in exchange for Metcalf and a Day Three pick – something along those lines. Either way, the Seahawks aren’t getting that absurd package, but they will still likely find a trade partner for the star receiver.
