The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to wait on an answer from veteran Aaron Rodgers, but that doesn’t mean the organization isn’t doing its due diligence at quarterback, set to bring in Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders on an official top-30 visit, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Tuesday. The visit, he notes, is scheduled for Thursday, April 10.

Sanders, currently the consensus No. 2 quarterback in this draft class behind Miami’s Cam Ward per NFL Mock Draft Database, has been projected anywhere between a top-five selection and falling all the way to the Steelers at pick No. 21. Despite a productive season at Colorado, consistently putting his accuracy on display, there have been some concerns voiced regarding his overall demeanor that may cause him to fall in the draft.

NFL draft insider Todd McShay reported that representatives of two teams drafting in the top 10 (both in need of a quarterback) expressed concerns. McShay stated, “They had a 15-minute meeting with them, and when they were done, they both said in different ways, different words, that they did not feel like Shedeur Sanders cared all that much about what that organization thought of him.”

Sanders totaled 4,134 passing yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 2024, leading the Buffaloes to a 9-4 record, finishing 25th in the Final AP poll of the season. He led the NCAA in pass completion percentage (74%) while leading the Big 12 in yards per attempt (8.7), passing yards and touchdowns and passing efficiency rating (168.2).

Sanders brings plenty of accuracy to the table, profiling as the best pure pocket passer in this draft class. On the flip side, Sanders lacks elite arm strength (which could be something worth noting in the AFC North) and takes far too many sacks than he should, even playing behind a less-than-ideal offensive line.

The Steelers have already held top-30 visits with Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart (ranked 16th on Mel Kiper’s big board) and Louisville QB Tyler Shough (Kiper’s QB4).
