The Steelers are having an efficient day when it comes to signing their 2025 rookie class.

Minutes after announcing that seventh-round picks Carson Bruener and Donte Kent have signed their rookie deals, the team announced that its fourth-round pick, outside linebacker Jack Sawyer, and sixth-round pick, quarterback Will Howard, have also signed their four-year contracts. The financial details have yet to be announced.

That leaves the Steelers with just three unsigned rookies after the first day of rookie minicamp.

Sawyer, who spent four years at Ohio State, left the Buckeyes on a strong note. As a senior, he logged a career-best nine sacks to go along with a National Championship victory. Against Texas in the Cotton Bowl semifinal, he put together a one-sack, one 83-yard scoop-and-score touchdown performance to be named the game’s defensive MVP.

The 6’4, 260-pound edge rusher joins a Steelers outside linebacker room that already includes T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith, and Nick Herbig. Sawyer is expected to contribute against the run, a role in which he impressed in college.

Howard, also a Buckeye product, was the quarterback who led Ohio State to the National Championship win. He was widely considered to be a great value pick in the sixth round. Howard threw for 4,010 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in 2024, his fifth college season. He also had a career-best 73.1% completion rate.
