The Green Bay Packers released star cornerback Jaire Alexander earlier this month. The Pro Bowl defensive back has only played in 14 games over the last two seasons due to respective injuries, which led to the Packers deciding to part ways with him. There was speculation that the Steelers could be interested in signing Alexander, but they will no longer have the chance to do so.

Per Jordan Schultz, the Baltimore Ravens are signing Alexander.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter adds that the compensation for the deal is $6 million. Per Schefter, Alexander had better offers, but wanted to go to Baltimore and join his college teammate, Lamar Jackson.

The Ravens needed a proven starter to put on the boundary opposite Nate Wiggins with Marlon Humphrey taking over slot duties last season. They signed Chidobe Awuzie, but after a one-and-done down season with the Tennessee Titans, there was still a need for a player opposite Wiggins.

If the Steelers want to make a splash of their own at cornerback, Miami Dolphins star Jalen Ramsey looks like the only big name available via trade.
