Friday Night Happy Hour: Injuries edition

Welcome back to BTSC’s Friday night open thread. This week, I, Ryland Bickley, will be on question duty.

The Colts have a laundry list of injuries ahead of Week 4. DeForest Buckner and Samson Ebukam are on IR. Kenny Moore II and Kwity Paye are out. Two-fifths of their starting O-line and starting defensive end Tyquan Lewis are questionable. But the Steelers also have their fair share, with Jaylen Warren and Alex Highsmith out, Isaac Seumalo doubtful, and Troy Fautanu and Cory Trice Jr. on IR. Do you think both teams are on a fairly even footing in terms of health, or do you think the week’s injury news swings the odds in one team’s favor?
Not to feed the trap game narrative, but let’s say the Steelers leave Sunday 4-0. Per the Steelers Cheat Sheet (always a fun resource if you’ve never checked it out), teams that start 4-0 make the playoffs 84.2% of the time and win their division 65.3% of the time (…and win the Super Bowl 12.6% of the time). If the Steelers beat the Colts, how confident are you in the team’s chances at making the postseason?
Speaking of playoff chances (and injuries), give us an update on how your fantasy team(s) are faring early this season. If you don’t play fantasy football, let us know how it feels not to be stressing about random non-Steelers matchups all Sunday.
Ryan and I touched on it in this week’s Read & React, but what has been the biggest (good) surprise of the Steelers’ season so far?
What about the worst thing that’s surprised you?
September-December is my favorite time of the year. There’s football season, the holidays, and finally some cooler weather. Favorite months are always a point of controversy, as it depends wildly on where you live, your preference of weather, and work/life schedule. It’s power ranking season, so let’s see your month power rankings. If that’s too much, give us your top three and bottom three.

So, settle down for the weekend, share your food and drink of choice, and let’s talk some football.
