George Pickens – Behind the Steel Curtain

Pittsburgh Steelers WR George Pickens apparently does not lack confidence. He always exudes confidence, of course, with his jaw-dropping catches and the fact that he’s a walking highlight reel.

However, he made an extra effort to let it be known in Week 5 that he knows what he brings to the table, with some crazy eyeblack in this primetime game against the Dallas Cowboys. See below:

Despite Andrew Fillipponi’s comment that the eyeblack reads, “Open always,” it would appear there’s another word in between those two, reading, “OPEN F****ING ALWAYS.”

A strong statement.

Ironically, Pickens is averaging just 2.3 yards of separation on targets this season, per NFL Next Gen Stats — tied for the fourth-lowest average for wide receivers with 20 or more targets this year. However, it’s fair to say that Pickens doesn’t necessarily need to separate in order to be “open” — he makes circus catches all of the time.
