We’re just under 90 minutes out from kickoff of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Week 7 matchup against the New York Jets, and both teams have officially announced their gameday inactives.
Here’s a look at the Steelers and Jets’ inactives for Week 7 on Sunday Night Football.
Steelers inactives Week 7
There are no significant surprises here on the inactives list for Pittsburgh. C Zach Frazier and OLB Nick Herbig were ruled out by HC Mike Tomlin on Tuesday in his weekly press conference. Meanwhile, Cordarrelle Patterson missed each practice this week with an ankle injury and was ruled out on Friday.
Rookie WR Roman Wilson’s absence is the biggest shocker of all, having popped up on Thursday’s injury report with a hamstring injury. He had just made his NFL debut in Week 6 after battling an ankle injury suffered in training camp that significantly hampered his development early this season.
Safety Damontae Kazee, another Week 7 inactive, seemed to be in line to play this week initially, having been left off Friday’s injury report. However, he was downgraded to questionable on Saturday after incurring an apparent setback.
Left off the inactives list this week was OLB Alex Highsmith, who will make his return to the lineup in Week 7 after suffering a groin injury in Week 3.
Jets inactives Week 7
CB Michael Carter II (back)
CB D.J. Reed (groin)
WR Malachi Corley
EDGE Braiden McGregor
RB Israel Abanikanda
OL Max Mitchell
OT Carter Warren
The Steelers caught a significant break against the Jets secondary this week, with nickel corner Michael Carter II out as well as D.J. Reed, who plays opposite Sauce Gardner along the perimeter. It would be a smash spot for a WR2 in the Steelers’ offense … if they had one.
Newly acquired WR Davante Adams is active this week, set to make his debut with the team.
