For the Pittsburgh Steelers, this offseason should be about two things:

Adding loads of talent at the skill positions
Adding a star in the secondary to compliment Joey Porter Jr.

Adding depth on the defensive line is the third priority in my opinion, but the aforementioned tasks ring more important. Adding D.J. Reed at cornerback is a move the Steelers should prioritize ahead of the draft. Assuming they add him (or another reliable cornerback) ahead of the draft, here is how I’d run the war room come draft day.

Round 1, Pick 21: WR Elic Ayomanor, Stanford

There is a plethora of receivers the Steelers could take here. Assuming Emeka Egbuka and Luther Burden III are both off the board, it’ll likely come down to Ayomanor and Matthew Golden out of Texas. Both would be great choices, but Ayomanor’s physicality and strength to shake man coverage and win deep balls makes me favor him a bit more.

Round 2, Pick 53: RB Kaleb Johnson, Iowa

Johnson led the Big Ten in both rushing yards (1,537) and rushing touchdowns (21) in 2024. I would love to see a backfield of he and Jaylen Warren – sign me up.

Round 3, Pick 85: CB Mello Dotson, Kansas

Dotson had more interceptions (5) than touchdowns allowed (4) while allowing a passer rating of just 69.1, per PFF. The defensive backfield needs a revamp, and having a room of Porter, Reed, Cory Trice, and Dotson would be a tremendous reset.

Round 4, Pick 121: DT Shemar Turner, Texas A&M

Turner had a better 2023 than 2024, but would still be a good name to grab in the fourth round. He had two sacks and 18 hurries from the defensive interior.

Round 5, Pick 163: TRADE

Los Angeles Rams receive: 2025 fifth-round pick, 2026 sixth-round pick
Pittsburgh Steelers receive: WR Cooper Kupp

Draft Ayomanor, trade for Kupp and now you have a really solid trio of George Pickens, Ayomanor, and Kupp in the slot with Calvin Austin as the No. 4 wide receiver option and No. 2 slot guy.

Round 7, Pick 225: QB Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss

Why not? If he’s there, take a swing.

Round 7, Pick 249: WR LaJohntay Wester, Colorado

Wester had a terrific season, but was overshadowed by Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders getting all the hype in Boulder. He had a great 2023 with FAU, catching 108 passes for over 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns. This season, he caught 74 passes for 931 yards and 10 scores.
