The Pittsburgh Steelers are 3-1, and they have gotten tremendous production from quarterback Justin Fields. The former first-round pick has thrown for 830 yards with six total touchdowns and one interception. Fields also has a higher EPA per play than the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Jared Goff, and C.J. Stroud.
Fields isn’t the only new quarterback in Pittsburgh this season, though. The Steelers signed Russell Wilson at the start of free agency, but he’s been dealing with a calf injury since the start of training camp, and has been inactive through the first four games of the season. However, Mike Tomlin said during his weekly press conference that Wilson is getting closer to being 100 percent. With that said, Fields doesn’t feel any sort of pressure with a Wilson return looming.
“I’m just gonna keep doing what I’ve been doing,” Fields said. “Whatever decision [Mike Tomlin] makes, it is what it is. I can only control what I do on the field.”
Fields became the first Steelers quarterback since Kordell Stewart in 2001 to throw for 300 yards and rush for 55 yards in the same game. The Steelers will need a big game from the offense in Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys in order to get back on the winning track.
