The Pittsburgh Steelers have released veteran running back Jonathan Ward, the team announced today.

Ward spent the 2024 season with the Steelers, appearing in four regular season games and totaling 22 yards on five carries. Ward has been a journeyman ever since entering the NFL. He appeared in 14 games for the Arizona Cardinals in 2020 and remained with the Cardinals until the 2022 season before being let go and joining the Tennessee Titans. He was with Tennessee for the rest of 2022 and 2023 before being let go and signing with the Steelers in 2024. For his career, he has 22 carries for 91 yards and has been used predominantly as a special-teams player.

The Steelers needed to clear up some room when it comes to their running backs as they head into training camp. They drafted Kaleb Johnson in the third round out of Iowa and signed former Philadelphia Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell. On top of that, they also signed Trey Sermon and still have Cordarrelle Patterson on the roster.
