The Pittsburgh Steelers have agreed to terms on a trade for wide receiver George Pickens with the Dallas Cowboys.

The trade includes the Steelers receiving a third-round pick and “other pick swaps” per Adam Schefter of ESPN. The Steelers and Pickens have been engulfed in trade rumors ever since Pittsburgh acquired DK Metcalf and gave him a four-year, $132 million extension that will keep him in Pittsburgh through 2029.

Many insiders speculated on the future of Pickens. Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports named him as a trade candidate to watch during the 2025 NFL Draft and said the Green Bay Packers were a team with “real interest.” James Palmer expressed that Pickens’ time with the Steelers was “limited” while speaking on Bleacher Report following the draft.

Now, what felt inevitable is now done. The Steelers will receive a third-round pick as the main compensation, which they can use in a potential trade in the 2026 NFL Draft to move up and get a franchise quarterback.

Pickens had 174 receptions for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns in three years with the Steelers.

Update: The Steelers will also be receiving a fifth-round pick and are sending a sixth-round pick to Dallas.
