The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders to a visit, which got many fans excited about the possibility of the star signal-caller ending up in the Steel City. It would be somewhat of a long shot, of course, considering he is the consensus No. 2 quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft class, meaning the odds of him falling into the 20s are slim. That said, we’ve seen stranger things happen, and should he get out of the top 10, there aren’t many quarterback-needy teams ahead of the Steelers at that point. With that said, it looks like any hopes some fans may have had of landing Sanders are all but gone.

The New Orleans Saints may be without quarterback Derek Carr for the entirety of 2025, as Ian Rapoport reported on X.

“The Saints suddenly have a major QB question,” Rapoport said. “Starter Derek Carr is now dealing with a shoulder injury that threatens his availability for this season, sources say. Carr is weighing options, including the possibility of surgery.”

Considering the Saints’ alternatives, along with their own need for a long-term answer, it feels highly unlikely Sanders gets past New Orleans with the No. 9 pick in the draft. Even so, the Steelers break even in this case. Their plan all along has seemed to be aimed at the 2026 draft in Pittsburgh to move up for their next quarterback which is set to be loaded with high-end talent.
