The Pittsburgh Steelers’ offense had an explosion to a degree we hadn’t seen in six years this past week when they defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 44-38. It was the most points the Steelers have scored since the infamous 52-21 Thursday night beatdown of the Carolina Panthers, and Russell Wilson’s 414 passing yards were the most of any Steelers’ quarterback since Ben Roethlisberger eclipsed 400 yards twice in that same season.
On this week’s Not Just Football, Cam Heyward showed Wilson and the offense a lot of love after their massive performance.
“Happy birthday old man Russ,” Heyward said. “Kudos to him for balling out [Sunday]. I don’t care who you play – you put up numbers like that, that is a winning performance. George, Calvin – everyone had a hand in winning that game on offense.”
Heyward also gave a shoutout to the offensive line for bouncing back after a game against Cleveland in which they received a lot of criticism.
“I know the offensive line gets a lot of flack,” Heyward said. “Just the week before, they were talking about Myles Garrett and how he had such a good game, but I gotta give some love to those dudes. They shut down a tough guy to shut down. I have all the respect in the world for Trey Hendrickson is doing. He leads the NFL in sacks right now. But between Dan and Broderick on the outside, and I saw some really nice blocks by Isaac, Frazier, and McCormick… we’ll have a bigger test next week.”
The Steelers will face the Browns for the second time in three weeks in Pittsburgh, where Cleveland hasn’t won in the regular season since 2003.
