The Pittsburgh Steelers are 2-0 and feeling good going into their home opener against Jim Harbaugh, Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers. The Steelers are coming off their second straight road win to begin the season against the Denver Broncos. The defense was tremendous, not allowing a touchdown in Pittsburgh’s 13-6 win.
The closest Denver got to the end zone was late in the third quarter when Bo Nix threw a pass intended for Courtland Sutton that was read perfectly by second-year cornerback Cory Trice, who came down with his first career interception. On the latest episode of Not Just Football, Cam Heyward praised Trice for his play and overcoming a lot of adversity to get where he is, also noting that he and Joey Porter have the potential to be a very special duo.
“How ‘bout Cory Trice,” Heyward said. “You listen to his story and what’s gone on and you see what happened last year and then [to] come back this year, get a pick – a game-saving pick – that really, I think solidified the game, was huge for us. He’s a kid who works very hard, works his tail off, and he’s just gonna keep getting better. That’s the thing, we’ve got two of these big corners in Joey Porter Jr. and him that you just look at where their potential is – they can be very special.”
The Steelers’ secondary has been incredible through two games, intercepting four passes and only allowing 200 yards passing per game.
