After weeks of offseason trade rumors, QB Matthew Stafford will be returning to the Los Angeles Rams. Stafford had two seasons left on his extension he signed in 2022, which came shortly after he helped his team capture a Super Bowl.

There were rumblings about potential interest from the Steelers in the veteran signal-caller, but ultimately, I’m led to believe that Stafford’s agents were leveraging the market to secure a larger contract for the 37-year-old. He was set to be due 23 million in salary this upcoming season. His new contract has yet to be revealed.

The big announcement should mean that quarterback-needy teams will be more inclined to secure their guy sooner rather than later. I’d anticipate this having a domino effect throughout the rest of the league.

Quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields remain free agents, and both Art Rooney II and GM Omar Khan have publicly said they’d like for at least one to remain in the building.
