The Pittsburgh Steelers held their second official practice of the week ahead of Sunday’s matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. It was a mixed bag of good news and bad news.
Let’s start with the good news.
Edge rusher Alex Highsmith logged a limited practice on Thursday — his first team practice since suffering an ankle injury back in Week 10. He started earlier in the week that he was hopeful of a potential return against the Bengals, but after logging a DNP on Wednesday, it seemed a little less likely.
On the downside, there were several players downgraded in their participation status with various injuries, including safety/special teams captain Damontae Kazee, who sat out with an illness. CB Cory Trice Jr., in his 21-day practice window on injured reserve, was downgraded to a limited participant as well, after logging several full practices since his window was activated ahead of Week 11. DTs Montravius Adams (knee) and Keeanu Benton (hip) were both downgraded to limited participants as well. Adams is making his way back from IR after his practice window was activated Wednesday, while Benton’s hip injury is a new one, though it’s encouraging to see him get some work.
