Following their first loss of the season, the Steelers enter Week 5 with a chance to rebound against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.

Earlier this week, we polled fans about their confidence in the direction the team is heading, their feelings about head coach Mike Tomlin, and their thoughts on how the workload at running back should be divvied up (assuming health for the depth chart). Here’s what they had to say:

Mike Tomlin earns a “B” for his coaching in 2024

Opinions were mixed on the job Mike Tomlin has done so far this season. The Steelers are 3-1 with a division lead, but an unexpected loss to the Colts last week resulted in a hit to fans’ confidence in the team (more on that later!). As for Mike Tomlin, 33% of fans gave him a “B” grade for his coaching in 2024, but the winning answer only beat out a “C” grade by 1%.

Still, more fans were willing to give Tomlin an “A” (15%) than an “F.” It’ll be interesting to see how grades change as the season goes on.

Once healthy, fans want Jaylen Warren leading the Steelers’ backfield

Steelers running back Najee Harris had a rough performance in Week 4 against the Colts, being outperformed by Cordarrelle Patterson and recording just 19 rushing yards on 13 carries. Fans are ready to see a different name getting the majority of carries going forward, with 46% voting for Jaylen Warren to step into the primary role once healthy.

Of course, both Warren and Patterson are out entering Week 5, meaning Harris has a chance to impress fans and increase his support against the Cowboys.

Fan confidence drops dramatically following loss to Colts

Last week at this time, fan confidence sat at a season-high 92%. This week? It’s dropped all the way to 58%. Pittsburgh’s Week 4 performance exposed a lot of the team’s issues, and despite a winning record, fan confidence is below preseason levels. Wow.

The Steelers have a great shot to turn it around at home this week against the rival Cowboys in primetime. There’s a big difference between 5-1 and 3-2.
