The Steelers received some help for thin positional depth ahead of Sunday’s Week 5 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Per a team announcement, the Steelers activated outside linebacker Jeremiah Moon from injured reserve to the 53-man roster, filling the team’s remaining available roster spot.

The Steelers also activated running back Jonathan Ward and wide receiver Brandon Johnson to the active/inactive roster from the practice squad. Ward and Johnson will revert back following the game.

With the Steelers down Alex Highsmith entering Sunday’s matchup, Moon provides a welcome boost to the team’s outside linebacker room. He played well in the preseason and challenged for a roster spot before landing on injured reserve.

Ward also had flashes in the preseason, and will provide depth at running back on Sunday behind Najee Harris and Aaron Shampklin. Both Jaylen Warren and Cordarrelle Patterson are out heading into the game.

Johnson will also be a welcome (temporary) addition to the roster. His four touchdowns and 284 yards in 2023 with the Broncos were more than Van Jefferson (209), Calvin Austin III (180), and Scotty Miller (161) recorded that same season. However, Johnson’s addition likely means Roman Wilson’s NFL debut will be delayed even longer.

The Steelers take on the Cowboys at 8:20 p.m. ET on Sunday Night Football.
