The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without one of their key playmakers in the second half of Week 13’s showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals, as wide receiver Calvin Austin III has been ruled out with a head injury, Burt Lauten of Steelers PR announced. Austin took a number of big hits this game, but this was the culprit that forced him to the sidelines:

Austin had two catches for 29 yards and a score, including a 23-yard dart from Russell Wilson for the team’s first touchdown of the day.

This could be an opportunity for recent Steelers acquisition Mike Williams to get involved, having played just 11 snaps by the time Austin’s questionable tag was announced early in the third quarter. WR Ben Skowronek is another name to watch for additional contributions.

Austin is having a heck of a season, averaging 17.4 yards per reception on the year with a 22-383-4 line and 127.4 NFL passer rating when targeted. He’ll have a week to get cleared for return, with the Steelers’ next game set for Sunday, December 8 at 1 p.m. ET against the Cleveland Browns/
