The Pittsburgh Steelers officially walk away with a win in Week 14, increasing their home winning streak over the Cleveland Browns to 21 games and ensuring they wouldn’t hand them a regular-season sweep. With the win, Pittsburgh improves to 10-3 to maintain a two-game lead over the Baltimore Ravens, who are on a bye this week, while improving their intradivisional record to 3-1.

Without George Pickens in the lineup this week, who was out with a hamstring injury, there were plenty of offensive struggles that were immediately clear on Pittsburgh’s first possession of the game. Russell Wilson was unable to establish rhythm early on with just 14 total passing yards in the first quarter, while Jameis Winston connected with Jerry Jeudy for a 35-yard score to take a 7-3 lead.

The Steelers were able to mount a comeback from the second quarter onward, however, all starting with the spark of a wild interception from second-year DT Keeanu Benton to set up the black and gold’s first touchdown of the game — a one-yard rushing touchdown from Najee Harris. Things really heated up in the third quarter, where the team executed two scoring drives (67 yards, 46 yards) with touchdown passes for Van Jefferson and Pat Freiermuth.

After extending their lead to 27-7, the Browns attempted to mount a comeback, including a 15-yard touchdown from Jameis Winston to David Njoku. It was followed up with a forced fumble against RB Cordarrelle Patterson, but Cleveland was unable to take advantage, handing it right back with an interception by James Pierre. The final nail in the coffin was a muffed punt from Cleveland WR Kadarius Toney, recovered by special teams ace Ben Skowronek. After a first down run from Najee Harris after the two-minute warning, Pittsburgh was able to run out the clock.

No doubt, it was an up-and-down day, but for Pittsburgh to walk away with a 30-14 win without their top receiver available, a lack of depth in the receiving game, and some questionable play calls. After all, they were out-paced in total first downs (15 to the Browns’ 20), total yards and time of possession, but they still shined through. However, the fact that the Steelers still won handedly tells you all you need to know about the multiple ways the team is able to win. Last week, the offense showed up when the defense gave up 375 net yards and five scores. This week, the defense and special teams units are back, forcing turnovers (2 INT) with three sacks and the fumble recovery on a muffed punt, proving there’s a potential for the Pittsburgh Steelers to win in all three phases.

Next up on the schedule, the Steelers will travel to East Pennsylvania for a road matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. The last time Pittsburgh played at Lincoln Financial Field was Week 8 of the 2022 season — a 13-35 loss where the black and gold were obliterated by star WR A.J. Brown, who posted a 6-156-3 line on the day. Hopefully, the Steelers have found a better approach since their last meeting.
