The Steelers got some good news ahead of their Week 14 matchup against the Cleveland Browns. Per a team announcement, Pittsburgh has activated cornerback Cory Trice Jr. from injured reserve.
Trice will take the 53-man roster spot opened up by Pittsburgh’s release of running back Jonathan Ward yesterday.
Trice was drafted by the Steelers in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He missed his rookie season with a torn ACL. In 2024, he worked his way up the Steelers depth chart to be a top backup in the secondary. The 6’3, 206-pound corner played in three games to start the season, logging 28 defensive snaps, two total tackles, a pass defensed, and an interception.
That interception was an important one, occurring in the end zone in what would be a tight win against the Denver Broncos in Week 2.
Trice landed on injured reserve following a hamstring injury against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3. After logging several practices after being designated to return, Trice is back in the Steelers’ lineup for the final stretch of the regular season.
