In addition to placing rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson on injured reserve, the Steelers made a number of roster moves ahead of Monday Night Football, per a team announcement.

The Steelers signed running back Jonathan Ward from the practice squad to the 53-man roster, releasing running back Aaron Shampklin in a corresponding move. As a result, Pittsburgh still has an open spot on its roster despite Wilson landing on IR, as well as an open practice squad spot.

Ward has appeared in three games this season, with five carries for 22 yards and 40 special teams snaps.

The team also elevated wide receiver Brandon Johnson from the practice squad to the active roster. Johnson will revert back following the team’s Monday matchup against the New York Giants.

Johnson has appeared in two games this season, with one catch for nine yards. He has not contributed on special teams.

Also in today’s roster news is the Steelers working out defensive lineman Anthony Goodlow, per NFL insider Aaron Wilson.

Goodlow signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 NFL Draft. He played college football at Tulsa and Oklahoma State; he recorded 42 total tackles and three sacks in his final season at Stillwater.

The 6’4, 283-pound defensive lineman has yet to appear in a regular season NFL game. You can read his NFL.com scouting profile by Lance Zierlein here:

Goodlow has good size and great length but is much more eventual than sudden in his movements. He rarely wins in gaps and is unable to create early threats as an upfield rusher. He’s not a natural knee-bender, so he has a hard time setting a firm anchor at the point of attack. He does have the natural strength to battle and strain. Goodlow is below average as a reduced rusher inside, so he might have to compete for a backup spot as an odd-front defensive end to make a squad.

The Steelers take on the Giants tonight on Monday Night Football. Kickoff is 8:15 p.m. ET.
