Pittsburgh returns home after their unique trip to Ohio the past two weeks. What started with an unexpected loss in what looked like the tundra flipped over to the highest-scoring game between two teams all season. In Week 13, the Steelers trumped the Cincinnati Bengals in an absolute shootout. Russell Wilson had his best game as a Steeler yet, posting 414 yards, three touchdowns, and a passer rating of 126.4. Now, Wilson and the Steelers will look to avenge their snowy loss as Cleveland comes to town for Week 14.

Notoriously, the Browns have dominated Pittsburgh in Cleveland for the past three years, as they are now 3-0. Outscoring the Steelers 66-46 in their barn, Pittsburgh must now return the favor if they hope to continue pulling away in the division title race.

Similar to the Browns’ dominance at home, Pittsburgh is also 3-0 over the past three years on home turf. The Steelers have truly dominated on their field by way of an 80-50 score over the past three seasons.

For Cleveland, they enter the snake pit following a short week that saw them lose in a thrilling Monday Night contest from Denver. Quarterback Jameis Winston had one of the most Jameis Winston games of all time as he threw for over 450 yards while simultaneously throwing three crucial interceptions. Jerry Jeudy exploded against his former team, posting an NFL record for yards in a player’s first game against their old team. Yet, his nine receptions, 235 yards, and touchdown were not enough to seal the victory.

Now, all but eliminated from playoff contention, Cleveland will once again aim to play spoiler against their NFL big brother. Pittsburgh, with a win this week and in Baltimore Week 16, can officially lock up the AFC North.

The injury report for Cleveland comes in rather lengthy, as they will be without a few key pieces of the puzzle this week. Most notable on the list are OT Jedrick Wills (knee) and WR Cedric Tillman (concussion), who are both ruled out for Sunday. Also out for Cleveland will be DT Maurice Hurst (ankle) and DE Sam Kamara (concussion).

The Steelers injury report looks to be the shortest it has been all season. The only two players occupying the game status category are WR George Pickens (hamstring), who is questionable, and DT Montravius Adams (knee), who is out. This means Calvin Austin III, who fans may have worried about after he did not return against Cincinnati, will be good to go on Sunday. Along with Austin, the Steelers will get back LB Alex Highsmith and CB Cory Trice Jr., who have been missing the past few weeks.

With a near fully healthy lineup, home-field advantage, and a nice forecast expected, there will be no excuses for Pittsburgh this time around. With that being said, here are a few storylines to follow in this one as these storied rivals meet once again.

Preventing a Myles monopoly

Two weeks ago, Myles Garrett put on a show in Cleveland. His five total tackles included three sacks and a forced fumble on quarterback Russell Wilson. Garrett matched up primarily with Dan Moore Jr. and sometimes even got doubled with the assistance of Darnell Washington. Neither of the men in black and gold were able to stop Garrett though, as even on his forced fumble, he fought through two Steelers blockers.

The strong performance from No. 95 prompted some choice words from him during an interview after the game. “I know they got a guy over there who is a former defensive player of the year (T.J. Watt), he is special in his own right,” said Garrett. “But I came to show that I am the guy, I am number one right now and I am not going anywhere.” Valid points from Garrett following such an impressive performance, however, keep an eye on T.J. Watt this week to see his response on Garrett being “number one.”

Eyes on the prize

The Steelers know that other than the Bengals in Week 18, this is their final matchup with an opponent whose record is below .500. This is incredibly important for a variety of reasons. First, the upcoming schedule may be the most daunting in the NFL, with contests against Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Kansas City all within 10 days. Also, Pittsburgh could lock up the AFC North title via many different routes. Currently, the easiest path to that is to defeat the Browns this week and defeat Baltimore in Week 16. This would place the Steelers at 11-4 at worst and Baltimore at likely 9-6. The Steelers would then have the head-to-head giving them the division no matter what.

Not to get anyone’s hopes up too much, but the AFC title is most certainly still within reach for Pittsburgh as well. With brutal schedules for both Buffalo and Kansas City to end the season, a strong finale for the Steelers could solidify them as the team to beat in the AFC.
