Will Howard hasn’t been able to stop saying great things about the Pittsburgh Steelers since he was drafted in the sixth round by Pittsburgh. The call that made him a Steeler went viral, as did the clip from Hey Rookie where he was begging the Steelers to draft him.

On his first day at rookie minicamp, Howard continued to sing the praises of the Steelers, and said he had a soft spot for them heading into the draft.

“I’ve got a lot of connections to Pittsburgh,” Howard said. “Coach T, I wanted to play for him. Arthur [Smith] and Coach [Tom] Arth. I knew Coach Arth; he recruited me at Akron, and one of his players from John Carroll coached me at Ohio State last year, so I’ve got a lot of connections with him. Everything kind of fell into place. As the draft went on, you never know where you’re going to end up, but you keep a little spot in your heart for where you really want to go. And I had a little soft spot for Pittsburgh.”

Howard is quickly earning support from Steelers fans, and he is saying all the right things. He will certainly be one player fans keep a close eye on during training camp and preseason.
